There is so much tension in our world today because of the fear of losses. People labour so hard trying to keep whatever it is they think they have acquired or obtained. The fear of falling or becoming less than who they currently are is the greatest evil driving people crazy today. The millionaire wants to keep his millionaire status, the famous celebrity wants to remain up there and the beauty pageant wishes her beauty never fades away. In our bid to maintain the status quo, we often go from being real to becoming artificial; from being genuine to becoming fake. And in the end, we pierce ourselves with so many sorrows (1Tim. 6:10)
But God wants us to be at peace with ourselves and simply enjoy His blessings. If they came from Him, we can be sure that He has the ability to help us keep them. Jesus had this kind of impeccable confidence in God when He said, all that the Father has given to me, no man can pluck out of my hands (Jhn. 10:27-29). This kind of confidence breeds peace and assures our heart that whatever God has blessed us with is guaranteed to last forever. We wouldn’t have to worry about how to keep His blessings because the same power that blesses us sustains the blessings.
God blesses and does not take away. This was one understanding that was lacking in Job (Job 1:21). It took Job a long while to gain the right understanding and then begin to query his circumstances. The end result was a double fold restoration (Job 42:12). There are still many today who believe God may sometimes pass on to us bowls of pain, anguish and frustration; and yet the scriptures describe all that comes from God as only good and perfect (James 1:17). When you have a mindset that is erroneously expectant of evil from the LORD, you would not know whenever the devil plays a fast one on you. And whatever you somewhat believe is the will of God for you, you would lack the capacity to resist and change.
His blessing makes us rich and comes with no sorrow (Prov. 10:22). When we know God and love Him, we are delivered from all manners of fear, including the fear of losses, for perfect love casts away fear (1Jhn. 4:18).
God is a great God of great blessings, and no good thing would He withhold from those who walk uprightly (Psm. 84:11). But beyond being a God who blesses, God is consistent in blessing the righteous. He gives grace and glory, not disgrace and shame. He never intersperses our seasons of blessings with seasons of curses; and when He blesses, He does so to the outermost; not just for a season but for all times.
