The term “enable” refers to the act of granting someone the ability or capacity to accomplish a task or perform a specific action. Naturally, David would not have won a fair fight against Goliath in the open field. It is difficult to fathom that Samson was able to defeat 1000 Philistines using only the jawbone of an ass.
Grace is that enabler bestowed upon us by God to assist us in accomplishing tasks that would otherwise be beyond our capabilities. When God told Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you,” He was granting Paul the strength to overcome the challenges he faced, specifically the thorn that was causing him distress.
When we are enabled, ordinary weapons become exceptional weapons and ordinary vessels become great vessels for God.
Paul acknowledged in 1 Corinthians 15:10 that everything he accomplished in ministry was by God’s grace. He acknowledged that he became the renowned apostle only as a result of the grace of God. Without the grace of God upon his life, as evidenced by his apostolic calling and abundance of Spirit-given gifts, Paul would not have been able to accomplish what he did for the Lord. Grace is the entirety of God’s power that a man can access and employ in service to God and to humanity.
Talent and hardwork aren’t enough to make it in this world. The Lord would rather have us depend on Him and His grace than on our own efforts to get forward in life. God will give us the grace to labour, and when we are doing what we are meant to do, His grace will empower us to accomplish much more than we ever could have on our own.
God’s grace is never given in vain or for no reason and when God gives us Grace, He gives us an assignment or responsibility.
God granted Noah grace and commanded him to build an ark. Moses found grace and returned to conquer Pharaoh, whom he had fled from for forty years. God asked Gideon to save his people after he received grace. God placed Goliath in David’s path after David obtained grace. Mary found grace and accomplished the unprecedented.
Beloved, we have been enabled! Paul writing in Philippians 4:13 had this to say, “I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]” (Amplified)
We should never allow our natural abilities or inability to dictate our lives. God has so many desires for us that He knows we cannot fulfill on our own. We can accomplish so much more through God than we could on our own. The key therefore, is to simply declare, “LORD, I am available; let it be to me according to your word.”
I pray that the Almighty God will bless us with His divine grace, enabling us to work with purpose and dedication. May His grace be our source of strength in all our endeavors, enabling us to surpass our own limitations and achieve great things.
Remain blessed,
