A heart of gratitude is one of the most important things that we as believers should cultivate. It is so easy to look at our problems and feel like the odds are so stacked against us and there’s nothing to be grateful for, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. And this exactly, is the devil’s plan. He wants us to be so focused on what we don’t have that we lose sight of the things we do have. The things in our lives that we can and should be more than grateful for.
This was what happened with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. They found themselves in the most beautiful of places, everything they could ever need at their beck and call, yet they managed to allow the devil narrow their attention to the one thing that they couldn’t have yet and this caused them to disobey God’s instruction and distort His divine plan.
As believers, we have to fight to always see the good life has to offer. Jesus, faced with the challenge of feeding 5000 people, with nothing but 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes, looked up to God and gave thanks. This should pose as an example to us as believers. We should never allow ourselves to fall into the pit of ingratitude, where we think our life is so bad that we have nothing to be grateful for. God is constantly doing good things in our lives and we should always show gratitude for them, no matter the circumstance we find ourselves in.
